A Trip to Austria
Here’s another concert set I shot in the middle of August at the Poolbar Festival in Feldkirch, Austria. It was the first time I went to this pretty cool festival nearby. It is located in an old swimming pool which is used as festival venue during the summer months. The amazing thing about the Poolbar Festival: it is completely organized by volunteers – and, altough it is located in the middle of nowhere between the first alp summits, the festival schedule is packed with international indie top acts. I made it to a Pantha Du Prince set and a concert of Portugal. The Man which was supported by the Salzburg-based guys from the Steaming Sattelites but this was only the tip of the iceberg: this summer’s programme was stuffed full of names like Shout Out Louds, Monster Magnet, Wir Sind Helden, Bad Religion and many many more…
So here you are: these are the shots from the Steaming Sattelites/Portugal.The Man show. You’ve already seen my pictures from the Get Well Soon gig @ Kulturufer Friedrichshafen, so it’s obvious that this isn’t the first concert I shot. But it was another first-timer: the guys from the festival were very nice an gave me my first photo-/press-badge! It was pretty cool to shoot from the first row altough the place was totally crowded. But I realized again, that my current equipment isn’t good for concerts. The darkness at concerts is pretty hard to handle with my max. f3.5 lenses. I already decided what I’ll buy next for my EOS: a 50mm f1.4 lens. Not a cheap one, but I think it will be worth it. I hope this will be the last post I have to make from a coffee shop with free Wi-Fi, hopefully I will get internet access at home this Wednesday.
Stay tuned for the next post. I already let you know: It’s gonna be wild!
